SALAR DE UYUNI – TITICACA LAKE / Bolivia
Bolivia owes its name to Simón Bolívar. It belonged to Peru until 1825. It is located in the Midwest of South
America with no access to the sea. This is one of the countries with the world’s greatest biodiversity, for its
territory includes various geographic sites such as the Andean Mountain range, the Altiplano, the Amazon,
and Chaco.
Various civilizations such as Tiahuanaco or Lomas developed in this territory, and later on the conquest by
the Incas and the Spaniards. Thus, Bolivia is ethnically and culturally rich due to this blending and
syncretism of costumes and traditions adopted from both indigenous people and Spaniards.
Although we can prepare any program including La Paz, Santa Cruz, Oruro, Potosí, Sucre or any other
destination in Bolivia, we highly recommend two important locations the Titicaca Lake and the Uyuni Salar.
*Because Uyuni is a connecting point, we can add the following destinations in addition to the Salar
excursions (please check with us):
Potosi: the UNESCO declared this city World Cultural Heritage. Here, you will enjoy its impressive
architecture such as the Casa de la Moneda (Royal Spanish Mint) and its beautiful churches. Since Potosi is
Bolivia’s mining legacy, we will definitely visit one of the mine sites at the renowned Cerro Rico.
Sucre: it is the capital city of Bolivia. Sucre preserves its colonial style, white houses with tile roofs, a
number of churches, and museums located in a very attractive valley.
REA (Eduardo Abaroa Reservation): a site of great natural beauty that connects Chile and Argentina.
Chile: this country has great attractions such as Atacama, the world’s driest desert, as well as the Sal
mountain range, the Valley of the Moon, and the Pre-Columbian ruins.
Argentina: we will go to the northern cities of Jujuy and Salta to visit some of their farms and vineyards.
This is a place to enjoy the local music and beautiful views like the Humahuaca Canyon, which UNESCO
declared World Natural and Cultural Heritage
