ITINERARY

1st day | Arrival in Lima (154 masl)

Arrival at Lima’s international airport in the afternoon or night. Meeting with our personnel, transfer and
lodging in hotel (private service, English-speaking assistant). Overnight.

2nd day | Lima / Nasca (588 masl)

Breakfast in hotel. Transfer to the station and departure by public bus to Nasca (km 450, schedule subject to
change: 07.45/15.40). Arrival to Nasca, reception and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight.
Overnight.

3rd day | Nasca / San Fernando / Nasca / Cusco (3.399 masl)

Breakfast in hotel. With an adequate 4×4 vehicle go across the arid desert to make the first stop to see
Ocongalla’s pre-Incan aqueduct. Continue travelling to reach the pre-Incan Sanctuary-City of Cahuachi.
Then, head to the dunes at Usaca where travelers will practice sandboarding. After that, continue travelling
until reaching the Pacific Ocean, and arriving at the paradisiacal destination of Punta San Fernando. The
many difficulties the entrance and exit roads present allow the abundant and varied fauna to inhabit the cliffs
and beaches being fearless to human presence. The Condor, which comes from the Andes, flies so low that
one can almost touch it with one’s hands. There are also hundreds of sea lions and Humboldt penguins in the
cliffs and beaches watching the visitors with no fear whatsoever. Thousands of birds of the most varied species
fly along the coast diving in the water to capture their prey. Box lunch included. In the afternoon, return to
Nasca (closed 4×4 transportation or open buggy, private, professional driver and English-speaking guide).

In the evening, transfer to the station to take the bus to Cusco (21.30/12.30+1). Overnight on board.

4th day | Cusco 

Arrival in Cusco, reception and transfer to hotel. In the afternoon, historical center walking tour (entrance fee entrance to Santo Domingo/Coricancha is included) and transfer the ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Puca Pucara and Tambomachay (shared service, English-speaking guide). Overnight.

5th day | Cusco / Urubamba River (rafting) / Cusco

Breakfast in hotel. Transfer from Cusco to Pachar community in the Sacred Valley, where we will receive the
rafting equipment and a safety briefing. After a little practice, we begin our journey through calm waters, while admiring spectacular views and archaeological remains. Then begin to experience class II and III rapids to end
in “the slide”, a strong class III that includes waves and small whirlpools. After the tour, you will have lunch
at a traditional restaurant located on the banks of the river and managed by the local community. Finally,
return to Cusco (private service, English-speaking guide). Overnight.
Note: For security reasons from mid-April to mid-December, we traverse the section of Ollantaytambo, and
from mid-December to mid-April, Urcos-Piñipampa section, south of Cusco.

 
6th day | Santa Teresa / Aguas Calientes (2.060 masl)

4.30am-5am Departure towards Cusipata (km. 82, 1.45-hour journey). After breakfast in Cusipata (3,332
masl), continue for 1 hour on an unpaved track to the Phulawasipata viewpoint (4,633 masl). From this point,
the 1.30-hour walk begins, where you can see snow-capped mountains and lagoons, until you reach the
Vinicunca rainbow mountain viewpoint. After the visit, return to the community of Phulawasipata and then
to Cusipata where you will have lunch. Finally, return to Cusco, arriving at approximately 5pm (shared service,
English-speaking guide). Overnight.

7th day | Cusco / Aguas Calientes (trekking) (2.060 masl)

Breakfast In hotel. Transfer to the trailhead by train. The first archaeological site to visit is Chachabamba
(2.250mt/7.380ft), showing an architectural beauty in the same valley. Then gradually ascend (3h) to the
fascinating Huiñay Huayna (2.650mt/8.695ft), where you will taste a box lunch. After a break, continue the
expedition by the semi-tropical forest towards the mystical Intipunku (Sun Gate), place where you will enjoy
the first panoramic view of the enigmatic citadel of Machu Picchu surrounded by mountains covered with
vegetation, rivers and valleys. From here, descend (30min) to the top of the citadel to rest and take pictures.
Then, take the bus to Aguas Calientes for dinner and overnight (shared service, English-speaking guide).

 
8th day | Aguas Calientes / Machu Picchu (2.430 masl) / Cusco

Breakfast in hotel. Depart on shuttle bus to Machu Picchu (2.430mt/7.970ft) to enjoy the sunrise in this
magical place and take a guided tour (2-3h). In the afternoon, descend to Aguas Calientes to take the train
back to Ollantaytambo or Poroy station. Upon arrival, transfer to Cusco (shared service, English-speaking
guide). Overnight.
The travel ticket, allows the transport clients and their hand luggage (01 bag or backpack) with a weight of
no more than 05kg/11lb and with a maximum size of 62 linear inches/157 cm (length + height + width), with
the cars intended for this purpose. We will take the luggage from the Sacred Valley to the hotel in Cusco.
Note: 2-day Inka trail shared service needs 3 pàx to confirm the departure. Neverthelees, we can open a
departure with 2 pax 2 months before the departure. Less than 2 months, it is not possible to open a departure
with 2 pax.

9th day | Cusco / Puerto Maldonado (jungle) (149 masl)

Breakfast in hotel. Transfer to airport and departure on itinerary domestic flight to Puerto Maldonado.
** During the stay in Puerto Maldonado, shared services with Spanish/English guide.

10th day | Lodge

OPTION CORTO MALTÉS
Breakfast. In the morning, visit the Sandoval Lake, natural habitat of river lions, piranhas, birds, fish and
monkeys, and the Monkey Island (optional) to observe different monkey species. Return to the lodge to have
lunch. In the afternoon, visit a lookout tower with a height of 20 and 42 meters and designed for birdwatching
and viewing of other types of animals living at this altitude. In addition, you will enjoy an incredible view of
the sunset. Return to the lodge to have dinner.

OPTION ECOAMAZONÍA LODGE
After breakfast, hike to the deepness of the rainforest through dirt paths specially made with hanging bridges
to cross the gorges. During the outing observe the Cave of the Caymans. Arrive to the majestic Lago Apu
Victor, of clear waters, surrounded by immense swamps and gigantic trees. Reach the Observation Deck to
enjoy a panoramic view on the lake, observing parrots, macaws toucans, camungos, shanshos, herons,
caimans, turtles and giant otters. Return to the lodge to have lunch. In the afternoon, visit to the Monkey
Island that is located 5-minute hike from the lodge. During the hike, we will observe extraordinary landscapes,
with an exuberant flora, sheltering a variety of monkey species, in their natural habitat, such as maquisapas,
capuchins, small lion monkeys, frailes, cotos and other animal species like the coati, sloths and a great variety
of birds. Return to the lodge. Dinner and overnight.

11th day | Lodge / Puerto Maldonado / Lima

OPTION CORTO MALTÉS
At sunrise, we will walk to a parrot clay lick situated at a stream protected by the Tambopata Candamo
National Reserve in order to enjoy the multicolored spectacle of dozens of parrots feeding. After breakfast,
the boat will take us back to the city. There we will visit the local market to show you agricultural products of
the region, especially fruits of the Amazon. Transfer to the airport to take the flight to Lima.

OPTION ECOAMAZONÍA LODGE
Breakfast. Transfer to the Puerto Maldonado airport to take the flight to Lima.

  • Bus from Cusco to the train station in Ollantaytambo.
  • Expedition-class train from Ollantaytambo to the trailhead at Km. 104.
  • Bus from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes.
  • Return bus transportation between Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu.
  • Expedition-class train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo.
  • Return in a minibus from Ollantaytambo train station to Cusco.
  • Food: We serve highly nutritious food on the hike so that you can quickly recover your energy along the way. We can accommodate special dietary needs, including vegetarian, allergies, and diabetes, among others. Please advise us of any special dietary needs at the time of reservation.
  • Professional guides: Our guides are fluent in English and have five to twelve years of experience in different hikes of the region. They are skilled at managing groups under pressure and are experts at first aid and rescue techniques. The majority of them come from different Andean communities
    and bring with them their cultural heritage. Along with the rest of the field team, our guides will make your journey a unique experience.
  • Emergency Equipment: Satellite telephones, medical assistance by satellite calling, radios with 10km range and 8 frequencies, first aid kit (we carry a full complement of over-the-counter medication, including alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, tincture of iodine, germicidal soap, cotton, gauze,
    bandages, adhesive medical tape, surgical gloves, analgesics for muscle and stomach pain, antipyretics, anti-allergy medication, anti-inflammatories, oral rehydration salts, laxatives, burn cream, splints, blood pressure measuring devices, and thermometers).
